Thousands of customers left stranded around the world by collapsed Scottish airline flyglobespan have expressed their gratitude at not being forced to go back to Scotland any time soon.
After the collapse of the company on Wednesday about 4,500 passengers are now stranded in Spain, Portugal, Cyprus and several other countries significantly more pleasant than Scotland in December.
Administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) said Edinburgh-based Globespan was having difficulty contacting all the passengers currently in other countries.
“We’ve left messages, we’ve tried phoning, email, even the odd fax. The simple fact is these people don’t want to come back, and who can blame them.”
“To be honest, I wish I was out there with them.”
One holidaymake speaking from Egypt told us, “You won’t tell them you’ve reached me will you? No. Good.”
“It’s brilliant here. It’s sunny, the people are nice, and my skin has even turned from blue to pink.”
“The reason I came here in the first place is because I didn’t want to be in a Scottish winter, and now you’re telling me they’ve got no way of getting back to that Scottish winter? I’m not sure I see what the problem is.”
“They want me to give up all of this so they can get me back to the delights of Prestwick? Yeah, that’s not going to happen.”
“Walking along the Prestwich seafront in horizontal rain, or take a cocktail by the pool in Sharm el-Sheikh - it’s a difficult choice.”
“Now, you ain’t seen me, right?”
